Sixteen March Marlins swimmers were in action on the opening day of the Cambridgeshire County Championships at Parkside Swimming Pool in Cambridge.

The swimmers have worked so hard to achieve quantifying times throughout the year and were hoping to go one step further and make it through to the regional championships, which take place later this year.

March's representatives achieved an impressive 25 personal bests.

Competing for Marlins at the prestigious event were: Eva Jackson-Neale (50m back), Harriet Feaviour (50m free), Ant Hall (50m Butterfly), Dylan Haylock (50m breaststroke), Mia Jones (100m IM, 50m freestyle, 50m backstroke), Alfie McClure (100m freestyle, 50m fly, 50m breast), Kitty Payne (50m free), Connor Rickard (100m free, 200m back, 50m breast, 200m IM), Harry Rickard (50m fly), Isla Staton (100 IM, 50m free, 200m fly, 100m fly, 400m IM), Jude Staton (100m free, 50m fly, 200m IM), Noah Staton (100m free, 50m fly, 50m breast, 200m IM) Christopher Scott (50m fly), Seren Stapley-Randal (50m free, 50m back) Hana Stoner (100 IM, 50m free, 50m back), Luis Suoto-Hill (50m fly)

The day ended with the finals for each age category in the 50m and 100m races.

The Marlins showed their talent with nine making the finals.

They were: Harriet Feaviour (50m free), Mia Jones (50m back), Dylan Haylock (50m breast), Alfie McClure (100m free, 50m fly, 50m breast), Kitty Payne (50m free), Connor Rickard (50m breast), Jude Staton (50m fly), Noah Staton (50m fly, 50m breast) Hana Stoner (50m back).

The fun continues next weekend, as the County Championships enters the second weekend with lots more opportunities for the Marlins to showcase their skills.
